Ty and Jy Productions was founded on the belief that art should tell the truth of human experience. Co-founded by Tyann Sells and Mikel Java, the company is led by a team of artists, writers, and producers who create from lived experience. Together, they’re dedicated to turning resilience into storytelling and community into creation.

Every production begins with collaboration, compassion, and a shared commitment to authenticity — because when we create from truth, we connect from the heart.

Mikel Java

Artistic Director & Co-Founder A storyteller at heart, Mikel brings an emotional and human-centered vision to the stage. As Artistic Director, he shapes each production through empathy, reflection, and craft, guiding stories from the page to a place of connection and transformation.

Tyann Sells

Executive Producer & Co-Founder A driving force behind Ty and Jy Productions, Tyann leads with purpose and creative precision. As Executive Producer, she ensures that every production is built on integrity, collaboration, and care, fostering a space where creativity thrives and stories find their home.

Joanne Naylor

Associate Producer Joanne bridges artistry and organization, supporting both creative and production development. With a passion for collaboration and storytelling, she helps bring Ty and Jy’s vision to life — nurturing every detail from concept to curtain.
